Once the decision is taken, there is a moral obligation to carry through to a conclusion. You can put that as a motto over your fireplace, if it helps. For us, although the actual get out of town seemed to take hours, the time on the road went rather well.

I’ve managed to miss another year at the Rollo Bay Fiddle Festival. Maybe if I practiced more…
Not to jest about such things, but I’d love to be that good. Or on time. Once again, I’m starting vacation after the dates for the various shows; even if we drove like the proverbial wind we wouldn’t have arrived on time. Pity that there isn’t a streaming feed for the rest of us.

The lawn still requires mowing. Our decision to replace the ancient electric machine with a new person-powered model seemed good, at the time. Now that the person has acquired education, a social life, gainful employment and wisdom, he shows little inclination to follow a spinning reel. Of course, with the local power failure this afternoon, it wouldn’t have been better with our former equipment.

Minor oil spill in the Montreal area last evening, after a freighter went aground. No, the bottom wasn’t rising, and the charts were as accurate as can be expected. Rather, someone has been playing with the level of the Great Lakes again. Keeping cottage owners happy, etc. For the ships that navigate in controlled waters, they have to carry booms to deal with oil that goes astray. Just part of the cost of doing business.
