The phone rings, and the call display mentions that this an unknown caller. I’m in a polite mood, so I waited to see whether I was now immensely rich (or famous). Rather, this was an invitation to complete a survey. I responded with the important fact that I was on the no call list… “Oh, sorry, I’ll add you back to it”. What?

For someone who favours a “cloak of invisibility”, I’ve had an outstanding social run this last while. Weekly breakfasts with a group, in a public place. Actual visits to other homes, and public performance with a musical instrument, however spontaneous. Much more of this activity and my own children won’t recognize me (although that could also be due to my reluctance to go up where they live.

I wish I’d been more attentive to detail, back when learning to play piano was an actual academic requirement. I had a rather lackadaisical approach to the discipline, coupled with a (false) belief that I could cram and pass the practical exams. Alas.

A first world problem: my postal delivery is late. According to the online tracker, the parcel left the neighbourhood sort centre shortly after lunch, but as of my latest trip, still no joy.

Pardon me for feeling a bit bemused. Turns out that (if and when) a certain drug prohibition is lifted in Canada, one of the largest pharmacy chains will be ready, willing and able. Shoppers has applied to provide. That should keep the small time entrepreneurs in check.

How I miss my youthful vision! I’m speaking in the mechanical, rather than the philosophical mode. That puzzle that I purchased at a really good price last afternoon (I didn’t realize how good a price, until I received back a lot more change than expected); it couldn’t be left to gather dust.

After a visit to my bicycle dealer, I’ve decided against the “spare wheel” solution. This isn’t the right time of the year for used parts. However, a side visit to the bookstore means that I can look forward to solving a jigsaw puzzle. There’s a logical link here, given that the puzzle is a collage of old bicycle posters.
