Hit the pause control
Think I’ll hit the pause control, for a bit. When a project is showing no progress, maybe a new strategy is needed.
My “trainer tire” arrived in the mail this afternoon, so I decided I might as well get busy with changing from the real rubber to the indoor replacement. I’ve changed a lot of bike tires, along the way; heck, I even made a slide presentation about the subject for my media course in university. This is familiar territory.
Except that after removing the original tire, I ran into some serious resistance with the replacement. As in “just can’t get those last few inches to seat”. Too tight. With only time to spend, I decided to return to the bare wheel and see what might be holding me up.
The new tire seats without a problem, until I add the inner tube. Now, I’m making a guess, but my tube might be too large. I’ve found another one, also brand new and much “skinnier”; tomorrow, I’ll get back at the job. (actually, an hour later… done.)
We had another visit from the door technician, and I was able to ask more questions. From his point of view, the original effort in the factory might have been fixed with shims, and our door is now hanging up on the sill. I’ve contacted the contractor, who doesn’t exactly understand, and who doesn’t fancy a trip to the far end of the Island just now.
I’ve got some photos, and tomorrow (going to be a busy day, I guess) I’ll send off something that demonstrates what a quick visit would see right away.
