Berry beating

Distracted by an invitation to come and feast on a free-range fowl, I missed a second conversation. We were at breakfast, in town, and I am so used to solo morning meals that I am easily distracted… Anyway, we soon found ourselves en route to a nearby cranberry bog (the commercial variety, where they flood between the banks and beat the poor berries into submission). No harvesting today, but we now own a rather large plastic bag of berries that will require a lot of transformation before they resemble the canned jellied product I’ve served over the years. Who says I can’t learn anything new?
