Berry beating
Distracted by an invitation to come and feast on a free-range fowl, I missed a second conversation. We were at breakfast, in town, and I am so used to solo morning meals that I am easily distracted… Anyway, we soon found ourselves en route to a nearby cranberry bog (the commercial variety, where they flood between the banks and beat the poor berries into submission). No harvesting today, but we now own a rather large plastic bag of berries that will require a lot of transformation before they resemble the canned jellied product I’ve served over the years. Who says I can’t learn anything new?
The weather continues to impress, so we decided to head home for a quick break before heading off with cameras. Relatives arrived, and we didn’t get back out (for photos). Instead, once the family ties were reattached, we decided to check out a nearby yard sale. Had to detour around (potato diggers are large AND slow) and come in by the Tarantum… surprised the people in the yard, since clay roads are often avoided. Turned out to be more cousins, clearing out the home beside my grandparents’ place for renovations. All the cool antiques had already found new owners, so we accepted the social nature of our stop and let it go at that.
Another BBQ burger evening. I am so happy to finally have a chance to enjoy food that is both cooked and juicy. Two thumbs up to the people at Weber. No need to lock away the tongs and spatula just yet.
