Am I too old to puzzle?

posted in health, politics |

How I miss my youthful vision! I’m speaking in the mechanical, rather than the philosophical mode. That puzzle that I purchased at a really good price last afternoon (I didn’t realize how good a price, until I received back a lot more change than expected); it couldn’t be left to gather dust.

I have a green felt cloth that is designed for puzzle people, and after “discovering” where it had been stored, among the tents in the garage, I laid things out on my desktop. Like any other puzzle, I spent a long time finding and arranging all the border bits; now I’m into assembling patterns.

You see, I can’t keep at it for long periods of time. That nagging ache in my neck, coupled with the blurred eyesight serve to remind me that my best days for jigsaws are slipping away. I’m going to have to take this in small doses, so don’t ask me if I’ve finished.

What else is new? Well, I’ve ordered my trainer tire, from “my” co-op (MEC). Turns out to be a reasonable price, and the parcel is already in the delivery system of Canada Post. Impressive, especially since I’ve qualified for “free delivery”. Is anything really free (mandatory philosophical phrase)?

Starting to see some interest in the plebiscite for electoral reform. A sure sign that the establishment is worried is that a number of sitting members are going public and saying that they find the FPTP (first past the post) system works just fine. Worked for our parents and grandparents, etc. Imagine a world where the folks who have a political vocation aren’t sure of getting their place at the trough, turn on turn.
