Hot food and talk

posted in food, technology |

I’m unsure of the actual timeline, but I feel safe in using the catch phrase “What a difference a year makes”. At least, in terms of our effort to integrate into the community.

We opted in for attendance at a social breakfast over at the Center, this morning. No big deal; hot food in return for small change, in an effort to fund raise. We went there, last time. Arrived late, with food in short supply. Didn’t really know the folks around us. Came, saw, left.

This time around, we arrived before the doors opened. Lots of stuff on the serving line. Knew people around us, and we had quality conversation to go with our eggs and sausage (and beans). By the time we headed out, the place was almost empty, and we were content to join in with the neighbours, on so many levels.

Around the bird feeders, new sightings. A grosbeak; not seen before yesterday. A squirrel, now off to try some winter camping. Nature, right outside the door.

I watched a new movie, this evening. Something with Pierce Brosnan: I.T. Actually kept me interested through to the end, despite the familiar plot devices. Let’s see if I can capture the main line. A psycho computer guy, hired and fired by a rich man, takes his revenge by turning a smart house into a fun house. Good plot turns, a respect for the actual uses of technology, a happy ending. Exactly what we need in action/suspense. Not sure I’d rewatch, but I’ll recommend.
