New preview effort

It all came together: a bread machine, some rapidly ripening bananas and a small container of walnuts. Stir in some filler, wait for the machine to work its magic and voilà… Homebrew banana loaf. Actually quite tasty, and much less work than the old way.

Wheel swaps

I would take the train, but it has already left the station. The story of my life, I’m afraid. In an affont to logic, my fascination with disappeared rail systems continues to grow.

Client retention failure

Watching the mess happening in Paris, via the wonderful viewpoint of the television journalist. Thanking whoever that I don’t live in a place where the civil order is so fragile. Or maybe I do. Not so long ago that we had our own moment in the viewfinder (Ottawa and St-Jean).

A premier swap?

If son #1 happens to check in here (instead of partying like you are on a tropical beach), rest easy. Your pipes have not exploded in the -40C temperatures you happen to have avoided. Carry on.

Model the past and the present

For the last couple of days, I’ve been learning how to use one of those 3D floor plan packages. Needed to; there’s a new house that cries out for exploration. Virtual if necessary. and so, after careful consideration of a line drawing we received from the “house factory”, I put together a reasonable model.

Progressing

I’m going to make a small footnote beside today on the calendar. Mark this one as “progressing”. The call around breakfast time involved the person actually working at the house, so I’ll assume it to be more than anecdotal.

Adding branches

Better to err on the side of caution and get busy. Writing this post, I mean. Before the power goes out.

Keeping a watchful eye

I wasn’t sure. Was I “their best friend”, or “the object of their attention” for these two hungry beasties. Seems that I spent the day under watchful eyes, just in case there might be food involved. A bit more, and I’d be guilty of paranoia.

Mics in unison

One more reason (for me) to avoid upgrading to Win8: sound drivers. Put part of the afternoon towards hooking up a headset with microphone on a nondescript Dell. Should have been Plug and Play. Instead, feast or famine. The earphones work well, but the mic is either silent or in full unison. You know; the built-in mic along with the headset. Not what I want. somethng to approach, tomorrow.
