Mics in unison

posted in food, travel |

One more reason (for me) to avoid upgrading to Win8: sound drivers. Put part of the afternoon towards hooking up a headset with microphone on a nondescript Dell. Should have been Plug and Play. Instead, feast or famine. The earphones work well, but the mic is either silent or in full unison. You know; the built-in mic along with the headset. Not what I want. somethng to approach, tomorrow.

Actually slept in, this morning. After serving a ration of kibble to the hairy fellow at sunrise, I went back under the blankets, and stayed there. Highly unusual. Guess that my staying up until the midnight hour two nights in a row caught up. No longer have that crazy stamina of bygone years. Nor the social obligations.

Cold outside. A fresh cover of close to twenty centimeters of “powder” could have served as an incentive to do something sporty. The risk of frostbite, a deterrent. Went back to shopping for fitness bracelets. You know, just in case.

Preparing for a fortnight of double dogs, while son #1 tests the waters of a southern shore.  Should keep the house “busy” and strangers at bay. Amazing how their voices are greater than the sum of the parts. I’ll try to record a few minutes worth, to trick the pair at another time. Works with online doorbells, works with random barking.

And with another storm enroute, I’ve laid in some extra food. And desserts. No bread; there’s a machine for that, now. Milk, on the other hand… Hope the storm doesn’t ground particular flights to southern shores, though.
