Season ends when I say so

The calendar on my fridge door says that summer is almost over. Even as I wander around in shorts and bare soles, languishing in the room temperatures outside, I accept the steady progress of the seasons. But, the end of summer is when I say it is, OK?

Go to the beach?

The dog may understand more vocabulary than I thought. Sure, he ignores me on the standard things: “Go lie down!” “Leave that alone!”, “Come back here!”. Just like a preschool child, or an adolescent… However, there are moments.

More than a cast and a plot line

Not always the cook, or the recipe, or the ingredients. A meal can turn out to be, politely put, ordinary. The same thing applies in cinema.

That long yard sale

Barely enough time to finish my morning coffee and cinnamon rolls, before the rallying cry to go out for breakfast. It’s a group thing, even if most of that group had to be elsewhere this week. My bacon and eggs were just as good. With the feeding frenzy ended, we decided to do something different on such a beautiful day. We went shopping.

The right bit

I think I missed today’s “event”. Rather a long name for something that didn’t catch my eye: lunar penumbral eclipse. Even after some time on Google, and a quick read of the relevant documents, I accept that some things are less than evident.

The not-so-deserted beach

That whole image of a deserted beach where you can wander with your dog? Not around here. I picked the most isolated corner I could easily reach by car, parked down at the end of the lot and yet we still had to do the nose-to-tail thing with other people’s dogs. Great sand, though. You may have heard that you can’t go to the beach without dragging some sand home with you. True.

Upset my app(le) cart

One day later, and my iToy, as a friend refers to devices from the Apple Corporation, is back in working order. Their software people released a functional update. The only glitch; all of my data is gone. This required a factory reset.

Not upgraded at this time

Spent some time in the hospital this morning. Now, no panic required; this was a scheduled visit. Along with treating the sick, the building is also a good place to store expensive medical toys. In my case, a gadget called an Optical coherence tomography scanner, which emits odd noises, has an attractive light show and provides colour prints from inside my eyeballs. Pretty neat stuff. Today’s visit was simply to provide a baseline for my new specialist.

Power bump glitching

Power bumps are aggravating! All it takes is a tiny glitch to stop my Win10 computer. Unfortunately, that’s the machine that hosts my weather station repeater.

Explore my Island

My regrets to anyone in the neighbourhood left waiting for an invitation to a celebratory event; I lack the skill set required. On the other hand, my ability to serve as co-pilot and navigator for daytripping far exceeds that of the dog. I know where roads go.
