The right bit

posted in technology |

I think I missed today’s “event”. Rather a long name for something that didn’t catch my eye: lunar penumbral eclipse. Even after some time on Google, and a quick read of the relevant documents, I accept that some things are less than evident.

Had to go to the hardware store, this afternoon. Maybe I was inside when the show took place; in any case, I came home with a can of ABS cement, a small Forstner bit and a boat clip. Don’t look for a relationship among the articles. The glue will get used, probably tomorrow. Ditto for the bit. I had considered trying to Dremel out fourteen small holes, but opted for a more traditional approach. The clerk explained that he had used a spade bit which he had carefully marked for the depth he needed, but with the correct tool available, right there on the rack, I decided to go for “the right touch”. Oh, and the boat clip replaces the one that got cut in half in a recent lawn mowing incident. The dog’s leash looked a little like Ramen, but I patiently untangled and unstuck the heat adhesions. Now the dog can go outside, front or back door, as he desires.

The province plans to take a second look at the most recent insanity… selling our ground water to a bottling firm for export. What do government officials do, all day? Seek out stupidities? Here we are, on an island, with only one source of drinking water, and they (the g.o.’s) consider sale by a company as a sane idea.
