The not-so-deserted beach

posted in technology, travel |

That whole image of a deserted beach where you can wander with your dog? Not around here. I picked the most isolated corner I could easily reach by car, parked down at the end of the lot and yet we still had to do the nose-to-tail thing with other people’s dogs. Great sand, though. You may have heard that you can’t go to the beach without dragging some sand home with you. True.

This afternoon, I decided that my speaker columns would not get done if left on their own. I waited more than a year; that’s reasonable. Still not enough time for auto-construction. And so, with the right size of drill, I placed the holes necessary for my homebrew column connections. Need to inset the bolts, but that’s a minor detail. I’ll pick up some ABS cement the next time I’m in a hardware store, and the sand is already stored in the garage.

There was a meeting at our house, this evening, so the dog and I went for a long ride in the countryside. OK, technically we visited a nearby town, where my hopes of finding an open hardware store came to naught. The drive home, in the dark of a full moon (contradiction) meant using the high beam switch from time to time, but that’s just a detail. We also spent some time up at the Point, where the wind blows cold this time of year. I think the dog raced me back to the car.

And with that, I’m home and ready to see what tomorrow will bring.
