Our local rail museum grew, a little, this afternoon. Although I wasn’t there to witness the delivery of the latest artifact, someone else was kind enough to share a few photos. Nothing that will get lost in a bottom of a drawer this time around.

About an hour ago, the warmest moment of the afternoon: 26C. Not tropical, but given that we had a frost warning over the last couple of evenings, a suggestion that the worst of winter is past. I jest, barely. Out about in my bare toes, I know what the grass feels like once I slip into shade.

Waved the car out of the driveway, at sunrise. The start of a new day, with all the time necessary for so many things. But we don’t always know, do we? Not always our decision, that whole life schedule thing.

Catching up on my “Carpool Karaoke with James Corden”; today, the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I’m confused. Is Jabberwocky a real thing? Seriously, those dudes are channeling another planet. The next time I sing in the car…

I don’t like when my clocks are wrong. Stopped, running fast or slow; all the same to me. I have the same feeling for measuring tools that are inaccurate. A light scale, or a short ruler, a pressure gauge that shows too far over or under, all should he consigned to the waste can. When my weather station started to show the temperature “sometimes”, my patience ran short.

While down to the hardware store on a poop run (they sell the stuff by the bag, to enrich the garden to be), I was distracted by the tool selection. And, unable to resist, I brought home yet another implement. In keeping with the quote to turn swords into ploughshares, I’ve decided that should the king call up a citizen army, I have my weapon of choice. Isn’t it awesome?

Today seems to be taking a long time to pass by. Might be the increased daylight, or my waking early, but I’m still hours away from bedtime with the feeling that the clock is running on extended time. I did start early, with a start.

Early this morning, I decided to check back on the calendar. I wanted to know when we had placed an order, locally, for a small delivery of gravel. Seemed like just last week, but it was actually eight weeks past. We had met with the contractor, taken measurements, received an estimate, called back to confirm, stopped by to give particulars on gravel colour. And in the end (today), nothing. The time has come to move forward, with plan B.

Reading on social media that others in this area are still preparing to plant their gardens; a sigh of relief, because we’re so not ready. Actually, push came to shove (figuratively), and the squares are now arrayed close to the treeline. The hares will have access, but short of going for a “green roof”, that’s a given. Country life. I am watching the ads for a cheap electric fencing solution.

An unforeseen delay this morning, just as we were ready to head out for a group breakfast: a half-marathon course, right by the front entrance. I’m unsure how many runners were involved, but we waited until the group had passed, and then detoured significantly. Didn’t want to have to tag along at the end of a long, slow queue. Have to put the date up, for next year.
