Worse than a stopped clock

posted in technology |

I don’t like when my clocks are wrong. Stopped, running fast or slow; all the same to me. I have the same feeling for measuring tools that are inaccurate. A light scale, or a short ruler, a pressure gauge that shows too far over or under, all should he consigned to the waste can. When my weather station started to show the temperature “sometimes”, my patience ran short.

I ordered a new sensor, and it arrived a few days ago. Today, with no immediate danger of downpour, I removed the weather station from service and went to work on what amounts to open heart surgery. The station is large, about the size of my dog. Albeit, not as heavy or restless… I disconnected the various sensor cables and broke things down. It took time; longer than I had estimated, but now I have my measurements of wind, rain and temperature (plus humidity) back on track. A good day.

The new TV comes with a Roku box integrated, so today I decided to explore what that means (to me). There are specialty channels I had never imagined – trains, music videos, travel. And according to the rumours, I can add even more content just by exercising my right to choose. Take that, satellite dish which is pretty paltry for a lot of money. The idea of kicking Bell to the curb sounds better and better. Bing. Bong.

And with that, I’m ready to see what has the dog so edgy. Is this a coyote evening, perchance? If so, I’d love to spot one of the phantoms.
