The first blooms of summer

With a certain degree of pride, I’d like to announce the appearance of the first blossoms on my strawberry plants. This is all new to me, but from what I’ve heard, a flower begets a fruit begets a home-made strawberry shortcake. Eventually. I’ll continue my observation and research, to find out just how long it takes to go from one step to another. Given that these were stringy plants in the bottom of a paper sack just a few weeks ago, it may take long enough that I’ll really enjoy the harvest. If the birds, and squirrels, and slugs and who knows how many other of the neighbours don’t get there first. Will an electrical fence stop a hungry crow?
