The wonder of old aerial photos

posted in history |

Today seems to be taking a long time to pass by. Might be the increased daylight, or my waking early, but I’m still hours away from bedtime with the feeling that the clock is running on extended time. I did start early, with a start.

Convinced that this was “recycle day”, which only comes once a month on a flexible date, I headed for the curb (or whatever I should call the end of the lane on a country road), with some oversize bags of plastic and paper. Once back inside, I realized that I’d misread my calendar, and the process had to be reversed before I ever had a morning coffee.

The dog was worried about dropping levels, in his food bag and biscuit box, so I headed off to town to make sure he’d never know hunger. He came along, to remind me of the purpose. Dogs are like that; drives me to drive him around. He spent most of the day with me, because I had an evening meeting and he had to come along for that.

We seem to have a surfeit of rooms at the museum site. Tonight, another location where we could sit around the table and try to find ways to spend monies we don’t have, yet. So this is what a board of directors do, for amusement. Actually, we (the collective) serve as a conscience. No “out of control” spending on our watch, coated with a veneer of volunteerism. Practical. And then, after a quick Q&A with one of my seniors, I headed home to examine some old aerial photos, hoping to find traces of yet another ancestor.
