Maybe, just maybe, the next generation will be better! I spent the afternoon among the really young; not much conversation, but watching them master closed doors and light switches that were too high (for them) was refreshing. I’ve grown jaded, with time. Too much news content with only negative viewpoints. I needed to see that the babies are still untarnished.

We’re sliding into autumn. Yesterday, on the way north through the province, some of the trees had already changed colours. In the garden, a bumper crop of tomatoes (varied shapes, sizes, colours). A change in the bird count around the place. Dark at an early hour (everything is comparative). Software updates, galore.

Time to hit pause; I’ve been researching family stuff for someone and let the time get away with it. Having a very productive evening. Easy to let the day turn into night, and the clock to tick into another date.

This was a meeting evening. Community service, with a chance to practice my penmanship. In a perfect world, I’d bring along a laptop and do my official recording direct to file; this is not a perfect anything. By scribbling, I extend my workload (decrypting, in large part), but it saves having to volunteer as the go-to IT guy at a time of the day when I would prefer to kick back. I don’t have to prepare the agenda, which is a blessing in so many ways. Just pay attention and take notes, like the good old days in one of those classes in university.

Remember the kid that played the role of the wizard in nine movies? The one with the glasses and the crazy bolt scar? I knew you would. He took a chance; some people never escape their persona in later movies. In his case, he did. After watching two of the recent efforts, I feel qualified to say that “typecast” isn’t among his weaknesses. A villain AND a skinhead?

As the first sign of dawn approached, I bid son #3 goodnight, and closed the computer. I had dodged my own “taxation stress”, but until his paperwork was filed I still had to play the game. We did this via a chat app. A first, for me; remote accounting.

After a long afternoon, I’m left to wonder. If something only half-works, is it successful (as a project)? Today, I decided to explore the twisty passages of Kodi. After all, if the courts are deciding whether or not I have the right to purchase the associated “black box”, then I’ll go ahead and make my own.

I’m unable to keep up. Another variety of Raspberry Pi announced and shipped today. Keep this up, and that IofT (Internet of Things) will be more than a wish. Already, people are planning how to turn a ten-spot into something of value!

I’m in a holding pattern. We leave on a road trip, but not until tomorrow. Packing is on the list of “things to do”, but I did get the dog’s stuff ready, so the majority of the job is complete. Now I’m working my way through the expendables (open jug of milk, etc) while trying to get control of my worry side; there’s rain coming, and the sump solution is unsure.

There was, it seems, a storm last night. I was on standby, but by daybreak the outcome was clear. A bit of snow on the ground. Actually, only on the front walk. How does that work? In the back of the house, no new levels to report (or shovel). There will be another one, later in the weekend. A do-over, if you will. Maybe the snow shoes will finally come out of storage.
