More Pi possibilities
I’m unable to keep up. Another variety of Raspberry Pi announced and shipped today. Keep this up, and that IofT (Internet of Things) will be more than a wish. Already, people are planning how to turn a ten-spot into something of value!
This might be a vindication of my own RPi project list; the weather camera has been online for several hours now. I had some quiet time, this afternoon, so I “ran” my long cable from the basement to the garage. I don’t like life on top of a ladder, but some things have to be done. The camera came online immediately, and the updates to my web page are happening every five minutes. (Very dark outside, right now). I will have to see about a “push”, for those times when simply loading the page doesn’t trigger an updated image.
Now to get back to regular programming. I still have a Pi in my larder, and there are so many other things I can do. As a recall, I’ve already put a streaming media player in place, downstairs. There’s also an Internet Radio player; perhaps I can combine the two, given that I’m now going to watch movies and listen to music at the same moment. Two Pi boards…
Maybe it’s time for that freezer alarm I’ve always wanted. Have to find a small thermometer sensor, and do some simple programming, but this could be worthwhile. Otherwise, I’m going to have to go with the “penny on an icecube” after-the-fact device. Must do some background reading.
