Guessing at menu choices

posted in computing, media |

Remember the kid that played the role of the wizard in nine movies? The one with the glasses and the crazy bolt scar? I knew you would. He took a chance; some people never escape their persona in later movies. In his case, he did. After watching two of the recent efforts, I feel qualified to say that “typecast” isn’t among his weaknesses. A villain AND a skinhead?

Moving right along. Took the car in to the garage this morning. It still hasn’t come home. Something about “not enough brake pads in stock”. I’m OK, though. Wouldn’t have gone anywhere today, in any case (nasty weather and all). As for being captive in my castle; that’s not such a terrible fate, now is it? My life isn’t a fairy tale.

Took the time to read about “the symptoms of tyranny“, this afternoon. Although there hasn’t been a Reichstag fire (yet), the neighbours might want to keep an eye on their head yahoo. He fits the list of “things to watch out for” too well. Should I read the whole book? The tl;dr shortcut applies, but the year is young. My kids are starting to fret about their future. I may have to look for calming tendencies. Oh, and avoid travel until common sense prevails.

Had a call from a friend, wondering how to reset a smartphone. I stepped back after realizing that neither of us could read the menus; the device language had been altered, for other pedagogical reasons. I can guess at which item to choose, but not in Spanish.
