All quiet on the car, once again

posted in economy, technology |

Unlike yesterday, where my awakening was too early for my own good, I didn’t roust out today until the telephone rang. The car was ready, and I was the anointed one. Get dressed, walk up the way and pay what was due. At least the temperature was up; no danger of frostbite. Car repairs cost what they cost, but the fee schedule locally is very (very) reasonable. Besides the “support your local merchants” feel good part, the only repairs effected are those required. I know, we’ve tried to see if there could be other jobs to get done. Nope. Our shocks are just fine.

Rather a relief to drive home in a car without an incessant squeal. Along with the service (oil change, tires exchanged) we’re good to go for another summer.

I might have to unwrap my new sneakers. The pair that are in the doorway, currently, as showing serious signs of wear. When it hurts to put them on without socks (because of the plastic supports that are coming through inside), it is time to discard/recycle/get something that doesn’t look like I shop in the discard bins on my feet.

The AIS people finally got back to me. My efforts to keep the receiver online are noted, and the next firmware upgrade will be done remotely, just because. If I want a copy of the SD image, it will be up to me to learn how to “rip one off”. It IS their gear. I’m just doing my part for marine security.
