Isn’t everything pre-existing?

posted in health |

I don’t get it. That whole thing about being created equal, etc? Hard to apply it in view of that alternate species known as a Republican. Almost dystopian, to watch them “at work”. Today, one of the two major sections of American governance, the Congress, voted to alter their fledgling health care system. Among the big things, a decision to disallow pre-existing conditions when paying for assurable services.

I’m not a doctor, but just about anything I can imagine (in the domain of health care) could be called pre-existing. You don’t go to the doctor before you require assistance. Everything I believe about “the reason for a government to exist” presupposes the desire to help others.

But, it’s not my country. Their poor example could spread north (like an infectious disease), but we pride ourselves on being aware of the underlying danger. So far, Canada still has medicine for all. Please, let this serve as a wakeup call to those elected to represent me. Yes, your co-governors aren’t all wise.

Meanwhile, things go on. The universe, unfolding, etc. I heard that some of the eastern seaboard states are ready to join my time zone, and at the same time unstrap the stupid backpack called “Daylight Savings Time”. I can imagine a better world, where the changes happen and we decide to align our own system into one that isn’t based on a rationale from a century gone by. Ignore the fading sunlight. We have electric lights, now. We can turn them on when it gets dark outside!
