Wet day here. Along with the wind that made the waves look much larger than usual, we received rain. So far, a bit more than 43mm. Not enough to get me into ark-building mode, but the farmers are happier. Potatoes, without water, stay small. No joy (and no sales). This will buy another week or so of growth before the next existential crisis. It will also help our wells, ordinary and deep. And the fall storms are headed this way, as insurance.

Odd night, yesterday. The dog was unable to relax, and his anxiety went over the top. Near as I can figure, there must have been something outside that served as more than a simple distraction. It took both of his people to calm the spirit enough that those humans could finally get to sleep. We saw nothing untoward, but then again a coyote doesn’t always put on a concert.

Time for a little distraction. Actually, not so little: our neighbour’s blue eyed puppy continues to grow, although I haven’t completed my analysis. Is it linear, logarithmic or exponential? The constant motion (Brownian?) inhibits any attempt at measurement. Distraction, it is.

While out with the dog, early, my mind was made up. A lovely little river, a vineyard next door, no other RV parked alongside… worth our putting down roots for a second night.

I have to level with you; when your bed is slanted, the chances of ending up elsewhere on the plane increase dramatically. We didn’t take the time to bring our set of plumb bobs and bubble displays. After all, the vehicle looked level, in the evening light.

I feel like I missed all the excitement. What? There wasn’t
any? There you go; I’m officially a senior citizen. I reflect on all that was
and could have been, I look ahead to see a clear route, and meanwhile the day
just takes care of itself. In a matter of hours, the hours have gone by.

If you watch network TV in NA, particularly comedy, you will
develop an immunity to LT (that’s laugh tracks). No choice, unless you want to
turn on subtitles and kill the sound completely. I’ve learned that the rest of
the world doesn’t play by the same rules. Imagine having to choose your own
moments to laugh!

Over the past few weeks, I’ve had a reason to go to the
city. A minor one, but in winter, it takes something more than whimsy to get me
out of the house. Today, another medical appointment. Minor. And the word that
I do not need to return for another month. Well, that’s well timed. The snow is
(almost) gone, and now I’ll need to think up real excuses if I want to see
stoplights and restaurants.

On TV, a doorbell sounds. In the room, with me, the dog goes
on high alert, ready to meet the visitors. This is the animal that I depend
upon for protection while I sleep? I am so not going to win the zombie
apocalypse!

In school, constrained by the limits of fifty minute
periods, we always had stories with clearly defined “start, middle, end”. In
fact, there are generations of us that believe anything else is not really of
literary value. This evening, I watched my first episode of “Russian Doll”, and
I am so confused. I’ll have to go back to the well, aka Netflix, and see if
things get sorted out for that young lady. I don’t thing that multiple deaths
are part of the usual character development plan.
