On an uneven plane

posted in pets, travel |

I have to level with you; when your bed is slanted, the chances of ending up elsewhere on the plane increase dramatically. We didn’t take the time to bring our set of plumb bobs and bubble displays. After all, the vehicle looked level, in the evening light.

By morning, we were all closer than before. On one side, in this case, but it could have easily been a toe-high situation. Even the dog noticed. Sure, we were responding to the cool night air, but there are limits. Tonight, if we get around to it, we’ll try to put the blocks in place. Outside, I should add.

During the afternoon, the dog went to “the river” with the kids. He’s a failure at freestyle swimming and catch, but what do you expect with a creature that lives in view of the ocean, alone. To me it doesn’t really matter, but the derogatory nicknames may affect him in later life. Or not. Do dogs worry about such things?

Today we were in a holding pattern, waiting for a family supper. A BBQ, obviously, in keeping with the season. I think my kids handle this process better than me. Perhaps I’ll get some pointers, on their next visit. There was also the question of when and where to take a family photo.

You see, getting all five in the same frame requires a sixth to manipulate things (we were smart phone shooting). Happily, someone stopped by at the right moment, just before the sun set and the cold breezes sent me scurrying for a coat.
