Hail? Really?
Odd night, yesterday. The dog was unable to relax, and his anxiety went over the top. Near as I can figure, there must have been something outside that served as more than a simple distraction. It took both of his people to calm the spirit enough that those humans could finally get to sleep. We saw nothing untoward, but then again a coyote doesn’t always put on a concert.
Today, the house cleared, again. Another carload, off to seek their homes, and we put another notch on the visitor totem and then prepared the rooms for the next wave. This is all new to us; during the three decades in the big city, visitors were a seldom thing. Now that we have beaches and less of a language barrier, our address is growing in popularity as a “destination”.
Urged by my sister, I tried the “duvet burrito” approach to replacing the envelope on our bedware. It works. Perhaps, with practice, I’ll adopt the strategy for myself.
During the afternoon, a thunder storm rolled through. Noise, continuous, for the better part of an hour before the precipitation started. We don’t “get” hail; today we did. Nothing to call the hotline over, but seeing those lumps of ice serves to remind us that vehicles can be dimpled, easily. As well, the greenery around the place could be removed: today, no heavy traces, but it keeps me alert. Ditto for the power bumps.
Meanwhile, I’ve been watching videos that detail the construction of magnetic loop antennas. Could be a way to get portable without needing to invest in a super duper mobile stick. I’ll see; there’s a kit available for QRP experiments, which provides the basic components.
