Are two hounds better than one? Not really.
Time for a little distraction. Actually, not so little: our neighbour’s blue eyed puppy continues to grow, although I haven’t completed my analysis. Is it linear, logarithmic or exponential? The constant motion (Brownian?) inhibits any attempt at measurement. Distraction, it is.
In any case, he’s ours, for the next few hours (I see what I did there). His humans are away for a day, and we’ve offered to serve as surrogates. Right now, two dogs and a person are en route for the local beach (head’s up!). After some of the nervous energy has been dissipated, we’ll try a quiet evening at home. No Netflix and chill.
Meanwhile, my dog did get out for a run, earlier. An open door, a visitor unfamiliar with his penchant for the chase, gone. I called. I trailed after with some hardtack. To no avail; he returned after another kind heart phoned in a sighting. “He’s up by Danny’s”. He wasn’t. By the time I reached the second entrance road, he had already looped downhill and into the kitchen. Look, I’m back. Feed me.
I should know better. Attach him before any door to the outside world is opened, etc.
Speaking of other fugitives, the manhunt in Northern Manitoba continues. How about CBC, with that puff piece involving a police officer explaining the rigours of searching, from his location in Southern ON. Yes, he did mention that one province west, the conditions would be several degrees harder. Muskeg. I remember that word, from reading early history. Not sure if we have any locally, although the reported quicksand beside the Blooming Point Parking Area comes to mind.
As well, I learned that parking your RV, building a deck and putting in a sewer drain doesn’t count, if neighbours with upscale cottages have any say in the matter. There’s a bylaw in place, although enforcement is beyond the means of the province.
