But will the writ be dropped?

posted in health, pets, politics, travel |

Over the past few weeks, I’ve had a reason to go to the city. A minor one, but in winter, it takes something more than whimsy to get me out of the house. Today, another medical appointment. Minor. And the word that I do not need to return for another month. Well, that’s well timed. The snow is (almost) gone, and now I’ll need to think up real excuses if I want to see stoplights and restaurants.

Yes, we went to our restaurant, and the food was good. And later on, I bought more “gas”. That assures me of access to bubbly (not bubbling) water for another while.

The ride home was without incident. A chance to remark on fields emerging from the past season. A chance to notice a ferry, moored in town. That hasn’t happened for a long while, because I don’t tend to be there when it/she is tied to the pier. In fact, the feds are promising a new ship, although that will probably take years to materialize.

One of our neighbours is trying to “rescue” a new housemate. A dog. We had tried loaning ours, but it isn’t the same. Perhaps we’ll have “play days” in the sun, once the new pooch arrives. It’s not as easy as all that to adopt from certain shelters. The requirement to provide references, for example. Turns out, we’re on the short list, and if a call comes I must avoid mentioning a certain hamster. Not sure what that means, as I have never met that particular rodent, but I’ll go along with the request. Hate to muddy the water, before a puppy gets a turn.

The provincial election writ might be “dropped”, this evening.
