Wetter than usual, and we are all relieved
Wet day here. Along with the wind that made the waves look much larger than usual, we received rain. So far, a bit more than 43mm. Not enough to get me into ark-building mode, but the farmers are happier. Potatoes, without water, stay small. No joy (and no sales). This will buy another week or so of growth before the next existential crisis. It will also help our wells, ordinary and deep. And the fall storms are headed this way, as insurance.
Funny how our visitors are drawn to the cliffs. I received a variety of photos on my feed, showing the fury of a wind driven water body. Or as my son (the absent one) put it, no surfing in that mess.
Our most recent “tiny” will head home, tomorrow. It’s been fun; he is enthusiastic about pretty much everything (including broccoli). He also has an infectious laugh. Hope he’ll come back, another time (granduncles aren’t automatically on the must visit list for most young families). And did I mention that we are the place to be for two dogs, right now? Everything of note gets echoed. You know, like a tractor going by outside, or the occasional phantom. Yes, dogs see things we don’t, but I think I’ve mentioned that before. Also, the queue for the cord (outside) means a door open shuffle. Yes, one dog is a hassle; two dogs is more than double.
Our Internet has been high on the hate list. When I have to reboot the DSL link several times in a day, then the provider is not doing what we pay for.
