With a liter of water in a jug, I’ll find out if my newest cold box is really all the freezer I need. Rather than fill the box with all kinds of expensive goodies, I’m opting for cheap practicality. If I can’t get an ice cube in the first instance, there’s no reason to go any further.

My technical education was tied to the local barber shop. Where else would I get to sit beside a stack of Popular Mechanics magazines, waiting my turn in the big chair? Given that my father was a firm believer in crew cuts, the visits were frequent; I rarely missed an issue during that crucial period of my youth when my mind was an empty barrel, waiting for knowledge.

Thankfully I was warned in advance. Don’t eat fiddleheads from NB, this season. One question, though; do they harvest those little green bits with SCUBA, because floods. As well, there are hungry moose on the highways. Again, because floods. No more “drive through province” jokes, either.

No need to search for a definition, when it comes to “muscle memory”. That’s where I go out, spend some time raking over the dead spots in the lawn until pain begins. The memory part: I remember why I shun the rake as an instrument of torture.

Proof that I “have a heart”? The HavAHart is deployed among the feeders, and the squirrel that rousted me from a near-nap by drumming on the side of the house will soon (I believe) be heading off to new territories. My goal, in life: to provide free taxi service for the little freeloaders. Why am I not as interested by the bunnies? They have a guardian angel.
