A test of patience/patients
Two points from today:
1) hanging out with someone who has “lost their voice” makes for a quiet day, unless you are into creative monologues (I’m not)
2) the “walk-in clinics” that proliferate in the city are nothing more than a test of patience, using patients.
We went to the city with a task list, and got most of it completed successfully. My visit to the printer gave me brief moments with the proof copy of the book (I wasn’t allowed to take it home with me) and an equal opportunity to enrich the tax base of the government. In my mind, the amount we would be spending for our order was acceptable. The actual invoice price (after factoring in the HST) gave me a moment of real sticker shock. It wasn’t my money, so the shock only lasted for a moment. Also, the printer needs a bigger building. So many jobs and completed orders about, I had to hunker down in a corner to find space to sign my name.
We did pause for a decent meal, at our favourite restaurant (where the owner shows us to our place and takes the time to catch up on the news). And, suitable fed, we carried on with our list which involved frozen fish. A small amount, certainly not enough for a second meal. The local school is having “heating issues” which has upped the mortality rate for some tropical fish. We were tasked with trading the dead for the living. It works, if you ask nicely. Going forward, I hope the hidden thermostat is discovered before demise of other innocent life forms.
Had an unexpected reunion with “the Lady of the Campground” in the supermarket parking lot. Good times ensued.
My family tree database passed the 78K mark recently.
