And snow fell, again. Not going to take this personally, but I’m ready for a change of seasons that lasts for more than a weekend equivalency. The wildlife, including those digging on the front “where the lawn should be” are also at wit’s end. That rabbit, with the colour change only partially completed seems particularly attentive. Eagles…

Another day where my only concern was getting a roast “done”. No big deal, anymore, but I did get to use a new proper pan, purchased in the hope that I’ll be less apt to spatter the oven…

The winds came up overnight. More than usual, with a peak value of 72kph recorded. Not exactly hurricane force; gale force… the water below here turned white, and it had nothing to do with floating ice. Too warm.

Here’s a shoutout to that hare sitting in front of my door. No, really, a shout, as in “Go back in the woods! The dog is confused by your presence! We have enough pics, already”. I even used the flash; all that did was give me some “monster from another galaxy” hare pics.

Based on this morning’s view from my window, the weather folk down in the “city” have an eye on their navel. Up here, it was cold AND it was storming. Full “wall of white” from time to time. Now, I didn’t have to leave the driveway (did all that yesterday), but the lesson is clear. Find a more reliable source for my local forecast needs, and leave the winter tires in rotation for now.

It’s dusk, or as I call it, time to write time. Get in my usual chair, arrange the foodstuffs (tonight, a grap of grapes), put the TV on to Tuesday comedy. That should be enough to get the wordflow primed.

To my surprise, the lads from the house store did arrive this morning. Early. Seems that our “snow blow” from last evening was local; down by the bridge, they believed that summer might be soon. To give you an idea, when I drove my lad to his job (again, early), the lane into the plant had the consistency of mashed potatoes. This mud season thing doesn’t end because of a little snow. It just gets the moisture necessary to slicken up. No, I didn’t turn in.

Allow me a few moments of idle reflection, as the Idol season rounds the final curve. According to Ryan Seacrest, there are three more evenings before the confetti falls. Frankly, I’ve had no luck in understanding the structure this season; whatever I take away will be of little import, as the train stops here. One last hurrah, etc.

My days aren’t always in lockstep with the rest of the family. I didn’t go to work today (and drive a forklift, although I have). I didn’t wander through a long idyllic visit to a sugar maple shack, or the workshop of a luthier. I didn’t even chase a squirrel that chose to sit next to me on the step (a true story; our dog has to accept that I’ll mention his more careless moments).

Spotted three more species of bird on the property, this morning. Had to accept that my future “acquisitions” will require the assistance of others. I’m a primary colours kind of guy. The box of eight Crayola got me through early life. However, birds come in an astounding range of sizes and shapes and hues. I’m not going to be able to identify the majority of the flock, unless someone else hangs a label around their necks.
