The noise from outside was different
The winds came up overnight. More than usual, with a peak value of 72kph recorded. Not exactly hurricane force; gale force… the water below here turned white, and it had nothing to do with floating ice. Too warm.
Anyhow, with a new house, you get to discover the flaws. Where some fine tuning might be required. In our case, we are learning to live with the simplicity of vinyl siding, which is actually attached ONLY along the top edge, and hangs like an unwieldy curtain against the wall. Until the winds come up, and start to play. When the lads were here, early on in the week, their task was to install some finish siding. Fake stone. And when they left, certain details were unresolved, like what happens along that lower edge.
The noise from outside was different. More percussive. I didn’t exactly spring to the window, opting instead to unlock the deck door and peer along the wall. One large piece of siding, pretending to be a flag. This is not a good thing. We keep our contractor on speed email, and I sent off a photo and a request for advice, given that his crew was a minimum two hours west of here.
He answered, quickly, suggesting that I attach that piece of siding in a very particular manner. Here are photos, the before and after if you will.
Apparently this is what was needed in this instance. Ugly but effective.
I can’t wait to see what the real fix will be. I’m learning, all the time. Not that I wanted to return to the “classroom” at this point in my life.
