Talented at more than making money

posted in politics, Wx |

Based on this morning’s view from my window, the weather folk down in the “city” have an eye on their navel. Up here, it was cold AND it was storming. Full “wall of white” from time to time. Now, I didn’t have to leave the driveway (did all that yesterday), but the lesson is clear. Find a more reliable source for my local forecast needs, and leave the winter tires in rotation for now.

Of course, if the birds can’t see the feeder, we don’t need to worry about fill levels. Wrong! There were some very angry finches circling the centre of their universe this morning. I could see brief flashes of green and gold through the snow, and it wasn’t an errant Packer jersey. By mid-afternoon, calmer spirits prevailed. The feeder is full. The wildlife are at ease with us.

So, what else of note in the world? Well, there’s that whole “the rich don’t pay taxes” meme: a leak from a tax haven near the Panama canal shows that the rich are talented at more than making money. Hiding the public share seems to take up a lot of their attention. One CBC pundit put it this way: “only the poor pay taxes anymore”. Guess I know where I fit on the “how rich is he, anyways” scale of things.

My meeting this week has been cancelled, due to schedule conflicts (on the part of others). I guess my important conversation with a lawyer will remain on the agenda, for the next meeting. And so goes the flow.
