Holland’s team received far too many yellow cards, and the addition of a red card may be the reason the final score went against them. Just sayin’…

Imagining a need to heat the house

Still pretty warm, in spite of a break in the weather. Perfect moment to check out the price of running a wood stove.

Virtually rounding the Horn

I’ve been “around the Horn” this evening, and thankful for living a virtual life.

Recently, I’d looked up the map details of the world at the tip of South America, in part to put some meat on descriptions given in a book I’d been reading. Walk slowly around, trying not to stir the sediments

I was patient, but the miracle of the self-cleaning pool was not manifest.

The kids are older; they’ve learned the difference between work and “look how much fun it can be to vacuum the pool”. Although my hopes are shattered, I’ve had a very zen evening. The pool is cleaner (a relative term), I’m cooler from the evaporation of water from my torso, and my blood pressure is probably lower (that zen thing).

Protective strategies

This afternoon, I painted a tent. Now, don’t get all fretful that I’ve turned artist; I know my limitations. My tents tend to look something like this…

Newer and better
