After checking out the credentials of some of the Dragons (it’s a CBC thing), I realize how deeply my socialist roots are set. I’d have a hard time “hanging out” with those who believe that their role in society is to “steal the cream from the top of the holding tank.” And now that the concept seems to be spreading (like an oil slick), to both national TV networks and south into the hinterlands, it is clear that greed is appealing to some.

Pulled the camera from the bag, noted the flash of light from the info screen and realized… my battery is dead. That’s one thing that wouldn’t have happened a generation ago. Analog. Crank the shutter and go. Instead, a compromise; I pulled the other camera from the bag and went on my merry way. Again, a generation ago, things were different. No backup camera. Somehow, I feel better equipped to meet life’s little emergencies in this new world.

Starting to hit my stride with this online course workload. Up early, on a weekend. Fed the dog (no choice in that matter) and then settled down to this week’s set of video lectures and multiple choice quiz opportunities. The content is interesting, properly presented and I’d really like to do something practical with my new knowledge. Soon.

When there isn’t a movie worth the watch, seek out the music. And we did. From time to time, the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame awards are available for view, or review. At least, music doesn’t come packaged with a “best before” date. Heard it before? Doesn’t matter. If I sing along, (again), it doesn’t matter. With enough practice, I will get the right words in the right order.

We’re not frozen into our houses, yet. For those that remember the Big Freeze, that’s good. The news has been warning that the heavy snow cover on our rooftops, should some rainfall occur, might lead to some costly repairs. I’ve eyeballed our place, and I think we’re safe.
