Got to get a git

posted in media, music |

Starting to hit my stride with this online course workload. Up early, on a weekend. Fed the dog (no choice in that matter) and then settled down to this week’s set of video lectures and multiple choice quiz opportunities. The content is interesting, properly presented and I’d really like to do something practical with my new knowledge. Soon.

I decided to test my options in the search for an electric guitar. At the flea market/music store, the price point was higher than I expected. On the used ad site, I didn’t manage to make contact with the preferred seller. After careful thought (more of a budget discussion with myself), the obvious choice was to go for something shiny and new (and under warranty). I have a soft place in my heart for the efforts of Fender-Squier; my bass has been joined by a new Strat copy, along with a small practice amplifier. Big boxload of potential. My first task will be to pretend I’m channeling Carlos Santana.

With a full load of groceries, and an application of rock salt to the walkway, I settled in for an afternoon of dogsitting and coffee. Not productive, but this is my down time. Come Monday, I’m just another guy with a job to do, but on the weekend I can pretend to be the master of all I survey. Yes, myopic.

Watched a neat movie called The Newton Boys, which turns out to be a true story. The interviews with one of the protagonists, decades after the fact, were worth the price of admission.
