Hopeless headlines
Some headlines make me pause. Things like “Police Officer Injured In Anti-police Brutality Protest”. Try and sort that one out, while distracted.
At least it wasn’t here (although it could have been). We’ve been warned; the springtime may be punctuated with certain moments of civil disobedience. The students haven’t achieved their dual goal of world peace and free tuition. The mayor of all he surveys still hasn’t convinced the union members across the table to pay more into their pension plans (so he won’t have to pay the portion he already owes). Hockey is heading towards playoff action (wherein the second season will be longer than the first). So many things in this mixed up world of ours.
I was watching outtakes of Mr. North Korea, in the front of an open boat. Can he swim? He also did a stint in a front-line pillbox. Can he see through those binoculars? Now that nuclear warfare is back on the list of things to do, the next few months may provide a lot of banter in the banners.
The new pope (much like the old pope) has settled into his new digs in the city that roars like a country. Will there be a big party? Oh, right. Easter.
Down on the Island, my old road (really, I was born there) has been closed due to flooding. I’m still trying to get my head around that one.
A friend (who heats with oil) had his tank filled, just hours before the price dropped. He didn’t call them; they just showed up with the long hose. The profit motive is alive and well, at least among the petroleum pumpers.
