Inability to barter

posted in economy |

Perhaps living in a non-bargaining economy is a good thing. My ability to beat down the price of stuff is not advanced. Example: saw something on a local used item site. Asked if the price listed was firm. An affirmative answer stopped me. On to the next item, (if and) when it comes into view. Not good, in a world where people actually want to argue about the price of stuff. A retailer’s dream, I am, I am.

A new baby has arrived in my office. Not literally, but you know what I mean. Does this make me into a “work uncle”?

For anyone watching the race to be leader of a political party, the contest is weak, content-wise. Be it Federal or (local) provincial, the Libs are not due back in power anytime soon.

Does anyone else believe that it’s time for the Google crowd to redo their US drive marathon? Perhaps 1.0 isn’t good enough. Try driving down the street (virtually) in any smaller city… the camera glare and soft focus is really not inspiring.

I’ve enjoyed the “look at my technological astuteness” that goes with having a best selling cell. With the release of the “new, better than” model a few minutes ago, my status has dropped a notch. Yes, it matters. Others have told me so. Not directly, but the industry does go on (and on, and on) about how important your phone is to your social life. Do they know that I don’t actually talk on mine, and that I refused to take a call from an unknown caller that Google flags as a “listen to the boat horn, because you’ve won a cruise” scammer.
