Name that song
Pulled the camera from the bag, noted the flash of light from the info screen and realized… my battery is dead. That’s one thing that wouldn’t have happened a generation ago. Analog. Crank the shutter and go. Instead, a compromise; I pulled the other camera from the bag and went on my merry way. Again, a generation ago, things were different. No backup camera. Somehow, I feel better equipped to meet life’s little emergencies in this new world.
As I watched (yet) another music awards show, trying to figure out the name of a song, I reached for the smartphone and launched Shazam. Withing seconds, a title AND artist AND link to purchase the effort. In the old days, I would have called upon a friend with better background than I (he worked as a DJ in a small AM station). Short of keeping him in the basement for eventualities, I’m forced to resorting to new technologies. We’re both better served.
Trying to learn about “plugins”, of the VST race. To go with my open source DAW (Reaper). A lot of depth, and only the willingness of others to rate the packages will see me through. Only one lifetime to spend, and other more pressing needs. I’m fascinated at the programming skills shown in the varied interfaces and outputs. I’m barely able to explain “compression”, while others have worked through the mathematics. That’s one of those life skills I didn’t get from my years in high school.
In conclusion, here’s the eight year view of things from my driveway, as of this date.
