Technology (sometimes) works well
Technology brings its own frustrations. And, its own rewards, occasionally. This evening, I’m grinning from ear to ear.
Got a call around suppertime, via FB, to assist with the setup of a new wireless router. No matter that there’s a nine hour car ride between here and there, when the net is up. It took a session with Teamviewer, and some of those limitless minutes with my Fab Ten, but after a few somersaults, the router was functional, and all the iGadgets had connected. One small step, etc. Finished up, just in time to catch word that a Livestream broadcast was underway from Tim Chaisson’s Summer Tour.
Confused? No need. Tim is in Australia, mate. And he has broadband, in the kitchen. A short concert, with Dave Gunning and another lad that I didn’t recognize, up from their late evening Tuesday. Time zones can really confuse the days and nights for the rest of us. Good sound, a fullscreen display. Souris via the Southern Hemisphere, where the temperature yesterday hit 45C.
On with life (although my fiddle is calling, faintly, from its closed case in another room). Yesterday, I upgraded the firmware on my ebook reader, and one of the preferred features is now missing in action. Used to be, I’d read until it was time to stop, and then set the reader down on the table and walk away. Automatic shutdown.
Today, the battery was seriously depleted. That preferred feature (although shown as active in the configuration section) didn’t kick in, and I’ll be perplexed until I find out why. Not to mention, tethered to a charger.
