Chilly enough for chili
My technique has been tested over a period of years. Before the weather gets chilly, make a big batch of chili. There. Make a bumper sticker, if you want.
In deference to the smaller core family group, I didn’t fill the huge stock pot that I purchased at Paderno. Although the empty air space (in the pot) causes me to worry, I accept that a steady diet of any one recipe over a period of a week will lead to revolt.
Forget food, for a moment. Son #3 asked a very pertinent question while we caught up on the latest video clips. “Did you have as many bad bands, back in your day?” Well, son, that’s a good question. The answer is NO. Back in my day, we only had hits, and the proof is that people are still listening to those same songs today. In fact, there state of pop music has been in a steady state of decline for the last two or three decades.
We’re back to dogsitting for the evening. The simple action of eating a bowl of fresh chili (see above) is enough to draw a drooling audience. Four eyes, fixed on the goal. Is that what adoration feels like, God? Oh God!
Back to music. I’m watching a documentary that posits the following: Mozart was probably the first rock star. I can accept that. Granted, piano isn’t a great rock instrument, but I suspect that a good guitarist could do justice to some of the better material. Time to dig out some MIDI transcriptions and test the premise.
