If the snow isn’t moving sideways, it’s not really winter. Might make a classic bumper sticker…
I was out doing dogtaxi and Dadtaxi today, and I was very aware of the season. From having to shovel out the driveway (even though the plow hadn’t passed), to picking which side streets were suitable for use, to wondering about the “interesting” vibration from the tires, this was not a day in summer. The vibration may bave been due to uneven snowpack in the mags (we were warned about that). Going along the autoroute, wondering if one of the wheels is going to pass me on the right or left wasn’t reassuring. The dog never noticed, but the son did.

Attention, advertisers. The use of an asterisk does not remove responsibility.
Case in point. After searching for that eyedrop prescription I received several months ago, and finding it (everything in its place, etc.) I decided to nip on over to the pharmacy for a refill of my witches brew. And, I verified the hours of business, on the web. And I went out (despite the windchill that hovers around -33C right now). And they were closed. Back at home, I re-verified the information on the hours of business. And spotted an asterisk. Effectively, today was not like other days. By tomorrow, the asterisk should be gone.

With all the new snow, the morning could have been messy, or beautiful. I’ll let you draw your own conclusion.

Crossing my fingers may have worked. Two weather systems and an expensive forecasting system may have helped, a little. Even though the roads were clear, at dawn, the school boards of this region decided to go with cautious. Snow day!

I was ready. Seriously, with bells on ready, at an early hour. Alas, the storm was “too little, too late”. Enough to aggravate the situation on roads, given the “under construction” status we’ve been under for several years now. Enough to remind me how the “wind at my back” is really a good thing.

Out to get some air today. The stuff in cans. With what it costs, be glad that you get the breathing kind for free.

I’m backed into a corner. My weather station and my telephone can’t communicate, even though I’ve checked my server and tested my uploads. A lot of “my” in there, for very little in return.

Enough snow fell overnight to have two effects. One, the dog is confused. Two, the floor in my cubicle is wet.

I was having too much fun, so the TV remote was confiscated. A surfeit of mirth.
There’s some heavy weather in the US right now. Big time, big city weather. Now, those that are in the middle of a storm are probably praying for improved conditions. Those that aren’t, and have a TV station to run, improvise. That’s why the remote was confiscated.

Didn’t feel the quakes that hit BC over the last hours. Don’t have the same sense of urgency as the one in place south of here, while a large storm approaches the coast. The NYC subway system will shut down in the next few hours, and schools are already announcing closure in the predicted areas. The NY Stock market will also be watching the weather roll in. Winter storm warnings have been issued for areas to my west. Stay tuned.
