If the snow isn’t moving sideways…
If the snow isn’t moving sideways, it’s not really winter. Might make a classic bumper sticker…
I was out doing dogtaxi and Dadtaxi today, and I was very aware of the season. From having to shovel out the driveway (even though the plow hadn’t passed), to picking which side streets were suitable for use, to wondering about the “interesting” vibration from the tires, this was not a day in summer. The vibration may bave been due to uneven snowpack in the mags (we were warned about that). Going along the autoroute, wondering if one of the wheels is going to pass me on the right or left wasn’t reassuring. The dog never noticed, but the son did.
Another afternoon of rewatching a movie. This time around, Unstoppable, and it was actually better this time around. More time to watch for details, since I knew that they weren’t all going to die. My kind of mega disaster. Plane crash movies tend to bore me, but a locomotive out of control is just irresistable.
Now to settle back and watch Republic of Doyle (the highlight of the evening). I might not have an Android App, but I’m still “Oh Yeah!” So cool to think that we’ve been on those very streets! I’d love a bit part, if they’re offering.
This is Inauguration Weekend in Washington. Up here, we swear in a new government without pomp and circumstance (not even the musical variety). Out neighbours make up for our short sighted approach. There’ll be highlights on YouTube, should anyone miss the wall-to-wall coverage on network TV.
