Royal babies look like other babies

This evening, I found the “first official portrait of Prince Louis”. After a moment’s pause, while I tried to suss out who this might be, a conclusion: royal babies look just like other babies.

Fair freezer fare

A long weekend, with no place to go. A small clarification, no way to go any place. I’m not going to be out in the markets, or the malls, or any other place frequented by strangers. So, if you thought you saw me – your bad.

And it could sing!

Even before I understood what a computer was, I knew it could be used to make music. In 1968, my high school library had an AV section, with listening booths containing turntables. The holdings, albeit limited, contained a new album called Switched-On Bach, by Walter/Wendy Carlos. My normal chair in the music classroom put me due south of the row of clarinets, so I had a firm grasp on “analog” and its limitations. This was different. It was digital.

Milk on hand and deeper wells

I’ve found a new world of mysteries: analog synthesizers. I’ve watched a lot of videos, read a lot of technical comparisons, tried to imagine what on earth the folks on Gearslutz are going on about. No closer to understanding. Maybe I really need a new interest; perhaps brewing teas. Can’t be any more esoteric (can it?).

Science, not fantasy

I’m all for giving a place in government to the “common man”. But, in the case of a certain US congressman, sitting on the House Science, Space and Technology Committee… nope. Rising sea levels are NOT due to rocks falling in the water. Back to basics for you. I may not have great depth in scientific knowledge, but I’m able to sort the stupid out from the unproven. The same goes for those who believe the earth to be flat.

The tower of instability

After my short period, last summer, watching the kids playing Jenga, I’ve derived a new theory to explain the political situation south of our border. Here we have a particular situation, where the daily news brings daily rebuttal of the lies told earlier in the news cycle.

Check the temperature while there

All I need, to change the tone about this place, is a different genre of music. Moved the “dial” on the Internet radio from classic celtic to classic blues; my dance is from a different time in my life.

A certain sameness

As I put virtual ink to virtual paper, on a daily basis, one thing is clear. My life has a certain sameness about it. Day in, day out. Without the distraction of a “job”, I have to find entertainment in the things that used to be condiments. Now they’re main course.

But is it local?

Deadlines are wonderful for getting things done.  Received an email mentioning our community group meeting in two days time; wait, I still have to prepare the minutes from the last two meetings! A push, subtle in tone but efficient in getting my creative juices flowing. Fast forward to the end of the afternoon, and I’m all caught up (until later this week).

Out of steam

Without the proper terminology, I’m going to resort to the first available analogy. This evening, I “ran out of steam”. My own fault; tried to cram an excessive amount of activity into a single day. Now, my voice is flagging, my spirit is flagging, I’m flagging. It’s late, so I can head to bed, soon.
