Scribble in the appropriate circle

Enough already! Enough of the empty promises, and the mudslinging. Enough of the really photogenic telephone posters. I want the campaign to end, preferably with fireworks. And fueled with the promise of hot pizza, I went to the local advance poll and did the “fill in the circle with the provided pencil” game.

A coulda-shoulda day

Like the car, I may be caught  in a rut. Didn’t even make it outside today, what with the continued blowing snow. Instead I settled for movies on the TV. The car is perched over a snow crater, which is akin to a rut with less motion included.

Dim the lights, as a minimum

This evening, for a sixth time, we will join the global observation of Earth Hour. Nothing strenuous; turn off a few lights, crack a sack of lightly salted potato chips and relax. Come on, it’s only an hour.

Real NIMBY

I’m watching, with interest, the story out of South Portland, ME. There, the locals are passing an ordinance to restrict the  outflow from a pipeline.

Excessive quantities of flowers

Sometimes, the urge overcomes the intellect. That’s why supper was provided, this evening by KFC/PFK. Oh, so bad AND Oh, so good! Tomorrow, I’ll opt for salad or a period of fasting with sackcloth and ashes optional.

Watching weather, as usual

Call it preparation. Call it vicarious. I’m keeping an eye on “the East Coast”, where the weather has turned decidedly non-seasonal. Or if you will, March going out like a lion.

When I wonder

Every once in a while, I have to stop and wonder. Why? Not “why do I wonder”, just to be clear.

When I see those presentations on the news, offering to let me taste special tidbits by renowned chefs, why do I wonder if the stuff tastes OK? I mean, although I sometimes manage to make stuff I don’t like (in retrospect), a chef would never do that. Right? Things involving smoked sturgeon and oddball pickles on a bizarre biscuit; how could I go wrong?

The magic wand approach

A sense of déjà vu; trying  to remove some well-anchored malware from a laptop. Actually, I had seen that same laptop, only a few weeks ago. On to the next step in the process, where the user will be shown the process of removal. A lost cause, perhaps, but when people believe that the technician has a magic wand that cures their problem, it’s time to involve them.

Moving stones

What happens if you put some dedicated people together, and then task them with moving some stones.  A lot of stones.

A reason to glaze one’s eyes

Where were you a decade ago? A half century? I can answer both of those questions.  Seriously, does anybody care about the answers to those questions? Probably it’s more important to focus on where you were earlier today (I went for groceries). Or, where you will be in a few days time (getting home from work, at a guess). Life is much easier to plan, now.
