Excessive quantities of flowers
Sometimes, the urge overcomes the intellect. That’s why supper was provided, this evening by KFC/PFK. Oh, so bad AND Oh, so good! Tomorrow, I’ll opt for salad or a period of fasting with sackcloth and ashes optional.
On TV, a documentary about flowers. No bees, or windy weather. Instead, a tour of a huge warehouse. How huge? Larger than Monaco, according to the narration. I have no idea about the relative size of a postage stamp country, but this place includes a lot of high technology, and air conditioning, and people devoted to getting fresh flower out to the world, every day. The Aalsmeer Flower Market is big, big, big. The YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMc8XxiyOw0 and the Wiki entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aalsmeer_Flower_Auction will give you a sense of the importance to the world florists. I think. Not much into expensive posies.
I had an emergency request (early this morning and during supper this evening) to check out a laptop that was seriously slow… in one application. After assuring that things were up-to-date, I checked the program list in the control panel. Things you need to know: installing two similar versions of the same program will not help you get things done. Not sure, but I suspect that someone was fighting for the bedclothes.
Two school days gone, and the storm seems to have petered out on the Island. Not sure how much snow actually fell, but the stuff never stopped moving around. When you see bare pavement beside a two meter high “snow dune”, it’s easy to visualize what couldn’t be seen, this time yesterday.
