Our legal system depends on clarity in decisions. When confusion exists, there is a higher body: the Supreme Court. Today, the SCC released the decree that should settle a major question for Canadians. The question: “Is it legal to buy cheaper beer in a neighbouring province and bring it back home?”

Another Saturday… the president is off to play golf. Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of people are outside “his house” in Washington. Not to see him. Rather, to tell anyone who is paying attention that the gun madness has to end in the US. The marchers, in hundreds of other locations across the country, were in chorus. Enough is enough. But as I said, the prez is playing golf today.

On the radio, a song from Queen: Another One Bites The Dust. The right choice for the moment, as we learn that the American Secretary of State was just fired, via Twitter. In one sentence, a succinct description of the evolution (devolution?) of their political system. Someday, there’ll be a movie (the books have already started to appear).

Now that the clock updating is complete, I see how my life gets altered. I wanted to sleep until noon. It’s now 7 p.m.; still bright outside and I haven’t started supper. Bedtime will be here before I’m ready. Could we start again, please. I’m willing to go back to a simpler time, when a clock depended on church bells for a weekly time check. Not sure how that worked, actually. Weren’t all the locals in church? Who set the clocks? Did cows rule the earth?

I am SO confused. On what grounds do sane people elect a known drug dealer to be (potentially) the next premier of a large province? The votes are in, and our neighbours to the west have done the crazy dance. With the south and the west taken, I have a choice between open water to the east or a long trek to the pole going north.

The rise and fall of a political force; today the Bloc dropped from seven members in their caucus to three. The others have opted for independence of a sort, by sitting as independents. A shift of monumental proportions for a group that once held the power seat of “official opposition” with a heady fifty-four seats. Seek the thorn, and you find that it sits beyond the rail; in another legislature.
