One of those oops moments
This morning, I felt a twinge of guilt. Despite his appearances on Star Trek, The Simpsons and The Big Bang Theory, I didn’t expect him to live indefinitely. On my list of books to read, some day, A Brief History Of Time. I will get around to it, eventually.
Today, we learned that Stephen Hawking has died.
Last night, during the storm that wasn’t, my generator and UPS systems did exactly the job they were supposed to. Immediately following that squawk, as the battery pack took over keeping several servers in the game, the lights went out for several seconds. Next, the throaty roar of my own Diesel kicking over. The outage lasted for several hours, elsewhere. Here, not so much.
I tried to stay awake until the results were final in that byelection in PA. An academic interest, nothing more. Between now and November, the start of a change in a regime.

Why my wallet has a zippered section (even if it is empty). A woman in Cape Breton had one of those “oops” moments after withdrawing cash at an ATM. The wind, in turn, withdrew the cash from her purse. Passersby did collect almost half of the $2K.
