We can’t reveal your identity

The government has my best interests at heart. Keep repeating the phrase, and ignore everything else. This morning, our new insurance company requested a copy of our respective driving records. Respectfully, I’ve been careful, all of my life; my transcript is a blank page. With my name on top. And there’s the catch.

Ready for a blue moon

Don’t get distracted by the name. Earlier today, my astronomy app chimed with a bulletin that we’re on the eve of a blue moon. Cool, right!

A safety rail and new Windows

With a third day of movement, outside, I am starting to see the “vision” of the landscaper. Still early, but the area around the house is gentler. I know, whatever that means. It’s just that the abrupt slopes are now something that an old man riding a lawn tractor would be able to manage.

My own sandpit

Children used to choose their friends carefully. For a boy, that included finding a family that kept a treasure chest, filled with Dinky and Matchbox toys. Cars were good, and construction toys were even better. Coupled with an impromptu sandbox (or the dirt beside the back doorstep), we worked out our fantasies of roadbuilding. Imagine, then, the flashback that came for me, when I looked out into my back yard today and saw this view.

Let the dance begin

An odd visit this morning. The telephone line crew, checking to see if we really had a problem (we didn’t). We saw them drive up and down the adjoining lanes, which means that their own dispatch desk doesn’t always do a good job of relaying messages.

Need more music

My neighbours (and family, closer to heart) should be thankful that I have limited financial resources. Otherwise, I’d be hard at work, filling the available space with music.  Or rather, musical instruments. Why, just this afternoon, I fell seriously in “wish I had one of those” mode, with a set of Uileann pipes and a mid-sized harp. Either would fit beside the bed, ready for a moment of inspiration in that period before dawn when the mind moves to unknown reaches.

Putting the Pi to use

After some pointed searching among the “not yet unpacked” boxes, I finally struck gold. Or Pi. Depends on your point of view. I have a number of tech projects that were put on hold, months ago. Waiting to move and all that. I’m now ready to apply my theory to practice.

Food quest

Another bread machine adventure, today. There was a single apple on the counter. Add in a couple of bananas, some flour and supporting chemistry, stir vigourously for five minutes and bake for another one hundred. In the end, the whole was better than the sum of the ingredients. A loaf, which I have sampled and designated as a success. Call it Gestalt food. With a string of success bakes on my list, I can now get expressive.

Loud security

Our version of home security depends on certain key elements. Location, locks and loudness. The first and second are standard, really. The third may be due to a flaw in canine personality.

Not just a load of blocks

Watch out the window; oh, the wonders you may see! Not counting the rabbits (or hares; must get informed about the visual differences), there are many novelties that come into view.
