A safety rail and new Windows

posted in environment |

With a third day of movement, outside, I am starting to see the “vision” of the landscaper. Still early, but the area around the house is gentler. I know, whatever that means. It’s just that the abrupt slopes are now something that an old man riding a lawn tractor would be able to manage.

The main contractor sent his designated carpenter over, for another go at the safety railing around the deck. There, also, things look much better; safer, if you must. With the exception of the opening for the (eventual) stairway, the deck is now enclosed. My weather station mast didn’t get in the way, and from the ground level, the deck looks… normal. Like other people’s decks. Well, it will, once we add a couple of chairs, and a BBQ. Life in the first world.

Today is the day that Microsoft has been hinting about. A new version of Windows is downloading (in ISO format), and I now have to decide if I will maintain my reputation as an “early adopter”, or put things aside for a calmer time of year. Given the satisfaction I have with my Win 7 installation, I’m not keen about going into panic mode. Does this version offer BSOD?

It looks like we’re getting that election call, sooner rather than later. Although the weekend is still not here, the rumour mill is primed. Maybe, Sunday? Apparently the start of the official campaign puts a stick in the wheel of those who have “non-official” opinions to trumpet publically. As well, the senators in limbo go back on payroll. It doesn’t matter what the rest of us want.
