Not just a load of blocks

posted in environment |

Watch out the window; oh, the wonders you may see! Not counting the rabbits (or hares; must get informed about the visual differences), there are many novelties that come into view.

Rarely has there been this much traffic bound for down below, until the rental rules changed disallowing short-term stays. Now, I see new cars every few days.

This morning, a vehicle of a different sort. One of those trucks with a flexible arm on the back. Forks, that wobble… We’ve received three pallets of concrete products. More than likely, the blocks for a low retaining wall, along with some flat pieces to build a walkway. I didn’t go to inspect, due to the heavy rain, but I did confirm the drop zone with the driver. This moves the landscaping job from maybe to soon on our calendar.

I must unpack the pair of Pi, and get a webcam into operation. If the older one does the job (in terms of processing power), it will go into operation from the garage window. Then, the better board will be morphed into a data receiver; my hope is to track both marine and aeronautical traffic passing by outside. Maybe a website, for the curious. So many things that didn’t exist, the last time I lived in this neighbourhood.

Finally in contact with some of the “old gang” from the cubicle farm. They wonder what happens to those who escape. Unlike the prison system, few ever return to “captivity”. I guess it’s what keeps those in an office environment hopeful for their future.
